Variable Frequency Drives
A VFD will control the speed of a three phase motor. The VFD also allows for controlled acceleration and deceleration of the motor. At start up a motor controlled by a VFD uses a low frequency and smaller amounts of voltage to increase the speed gradually. The VFD will allow for a connection to a process variable that can automatically change the speed of the motor based on temperature, pressure, flow, distance or many other variables.
Features
- Control Accel and Decel Rate

Soft Starts
Soft starts are used with an electric motor to reduce the current and torque during the motors start-up. A soft start reduces the surge of current during start-up which reduces the mechanical stress on the motor and the equipment the motor is connected too. A Soft Start will also control the deceleration of the motor.

- Controlled Inrush of Power
- Starting a Motor Under Load
- Less Mechanical Stress on the Motor
- Less Electrical Stress on the Motor
- Less Mechanical Stress on the Equipment the Motor is Connected to
Benefits
- Power Savings
- Less stress on equipment
- Less Downtime for repairs
- Full Starting torque available
